At Family Foot and Ankle Center, our doctors have performed countless surgeries over the years for a wide range of foot and ankle problems—bunion removal, hammertoe correction, resetting fractures, tendon repair, and a lot more. Whatever your foot issue, we have the tools and training to provide the highest quality surgical care.
But that doesn’t mean your treatment stops the moment we set down the knife. Recovery from any surgical procedure is a team effort that requires participation and cooperation from doctor and patient alike. What you do after surgery—giving yourself an appropriate amount of rest, following all your doctor’s orders, and working hard at your rehab plan—can be just as important as the surgery itself.
After your operation, it’ll take time to achieve a complete recovery—even if you’ve fully healed and are cleared for full activity, it’s likely you’ll still have a little way to go to if you want to get back to 100% of where you were before the accident, operation, or injury. During the resting and healing process, disused muscles weaken, and repaired joints may lose some of their flexibility or range of motion. A targeted physical therapy program, with just the right mix of strength training, stretches, and other exercises, is an essential component of getting you back to pre-surgery levels.
That’s why it’s so important to take rehab seriously. We’ll do our part by performing excellent surgery, scheduling you for regular checkups, referring you to an outside physical or occupational therapist if necessary, and giving you all the instructions and support you need to follow through on your home-based care. It’s up to you, though, to follow through.
Our doctors always want what’s best for you. Whether or not surgery is on the table for your situation, we’ll carefully walk you through your options and help you make the right choice for your lifestyle. If you’re suffering from foot or ankle pain, please give us a call and find out how we can help. You can reach us by dialing 888-689-3317 today.
